Uttarakhand is well known for its many trekking zones. Trekking in Uttarakhand is one of the most stunning experiences in someone’s life. The Valley of flowers trek is one of the safest treks in Uttarakhand, Chamoli district. It is located at an elevation of 14,100 ft.
This trek goes through dense forests, along with the Pushpawati river. On the trail, one can experience many bridges, waterfalls, and glaciers. The beautiful flora and fauna enrich the beauty of this valley.
You can also visit the Rajmachi trek. Valley of Flowers is surrounded by some beautiful snowy peaks like Rataban, Gauri Parbat, and beautiful Nilgiri Parbat. It is a world heritage site. You need to get a permit from the forest department to enter here. The ticket is valid for only 3 days. Staying here overnight is not allowed as it is a protected wildlife area. All trekkers need to exit the place by 5 pm.

This is an easy-to-moderate trek. The last ATM is in Joshimath. You can’t locate any network while doing this trek. The best thing is you do not need any trekking guide for this trek. But if you are a solo traveler then we suggest you take someone for an emergency.
The nearest airport is Jolly Grant airport. The closest railway station is Rishikesh or Haridwar.
Best Time to go for The trek
At the end of May or early June, the flowers begin to bloom. The best time to visit here is in July and August. This place is open around the middle of June to September. Here one can experience colorful butterflies, small birds, etc. it is closed in October or in November.
The temperature of the region
In the valley, the temperature remains moderate-cool. The maximum temperature is 16-degree Celsius. The minimum temperature is 6-degree celsius. The weather is amazing here. We will recommend you wear some light woolen clothes.
Trek Route
Day 1: Reach Joshimath
The journey to the Valley of Flowers starts from Rishikesh or Dehradun or Haridwar. After reaching Rishikesh you need to head towards Joshimath. It is at a distance of 255 km from Rishikesh. Joshimath is situated at a height of 6,300 ft. An 8 to 9 hours driving will be enough to reach here.
On the way, one can experience amazing places and local mountain culture. In the evening you will reach Joshimath. Stay here overnight.
Day 2: Joshimath To GovindGhat
After having breakfast you need to go towards Govindghat. This is 20 km away from Joshimath. It takes just 1 hour. You can also arrive here by bus or taxi. The bus fare is about 20. If you leave your luggage here then it will be suitable for you. From here you have to carry only your essential things with you for this trek. From Govind Ghat you can also employ a porter with you.
Day 3: Govind Ghat to Ghangaria
One can either trek from Govind Ghat to Ghangaria which is nearly about 14 km or can trek from Phulna to the basecamp Ghangaria which is 10 km. It is an easy-moderate trek.
Day. Stay overnight at Ghangaria. One can stay at a private lodge at Ghangaria.
Day 4: Ghangaria To The Beautiful Valley Of Flowers
The span between Ghangaria to the Valley of Flowers is about 3 to 4 km. It can be easily concluded within 6 to 7 hours. The trekking level is easy. Here you can see several streams. There are no food stalls at Valley of Flowers.5 to 8 hours will be enough to explore the valley.
The lovely valley will leave your eyes spellbound and will blow your mind. Please do not leave any plastics or carry bags here. After exploring the valley you need to return to Ghangaria. You need to stay here overnight.
Day 5: Ghangaria To GovindGhat Or Hemund Sahib
After having breakfast you need to start trekking towards Govindghat or you can go for Hemkund Sahib. This is optional. Ghangaria To GovindGhat is 14 km.
Day 6: GovindGhat To Joshimath
After having your breakfast you need to drive towards Joshimath. The distance between GovindGhat to Joshimath is 21 km. Stay in a hotel overnight.
Day 7: Joshimath To Haridwar
Waking up in the morning you need to drive back to Rishikesh. Say goodbye to the gorgeous hills. From here your journey begins to your hometown.

Things to Carry:
- You require to carry a good backpack for your essential things.
- A warm jacket and a windcheater will be satisfactory for you. Don’t ignore to carry your raincoat or poncho with you because in monsoon time you need to wear this. Also carry your gloves, cap or hat, and socks.
- Comfortable trekking shoes
- A trekking pole will help you for climbing.
- Medicines are the most important thing in each and every trek. Always take your primary medicines like some headache pills, some vomiting pills, etc. Take some basic first aid kits like band-aids, sprays, etc. Remember that there is only one medicine shop in Ghangaria. It is better if you carry your own medicine from your home.
